Dermal fillers

Lip1-Before Lip1-AfterThese are substances which are identical to those found naturally in the skin and are an instant way to soften lines and folds in the skin.  Fillers can be used to treat frown lines, nose to mouth lines and in fact almost any line, wrinkle or fold in the face can be treated with a filler.  They can also be used to add volume to the cheeks, chin or jawline, to enhance the lips, accentuating the lip line or creating full sensuous lips.

Fillers work by physically supporting the skin directly under the line or fold lifting and softening its appearance.  To ensure comfort throughout the procedure a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area or block anaesthesia similar to that for dental treatment can be given.

The two most common fillers available are:

Hyaluronic Acid – a substance found naturally in the skin, eyes and joints.  No patch test is required.

Calcium Hydroxyapatite – an instant filler which also stimulates the body to produce collagen and elastin.

Results are instant and can last between six months to two years depending on the area treated and type of filler used.

Normal side effects are redness, swelling and sometimes bruising for a few days to a week after treatment.  This can be camouflaged with make-up.

Radiesse_hands03_before Radiesse_hands03_afterCertain fillers can be reversed and you can therefore be reassured that on the very rare occasion you are not comfortable with your new look, we are able to restore you to your original appearance.

In addition to filling lines, dermal fillers can be used to plump out and revitalise the skin on the back of the hands, neck and décolletage to make it appear more youthful and vibrant looking.
